January 2008
"The Pom"
Well fellas Welcome to 2008 and another great year of ADG news and events.
G'Day Pom

I just got the latest ADG CD.
An item that interested me was Ben Hall Moving to Waratah, (for god
sake no one moves to Waratah)
Actually I have strong family ties to the place. My Mum was born
there and two names on the cenotaph, Oakley and Martin are both great
uncles who were killed in WW1.  Martin was killed on the landing at
Gallipoli 25 April 1915.   I still have an Aunt and cousins living there.

And the RSL at Wynyard, I lived in Wynyard and I was the assistant
Sec for a year before I moved back to the mainland.

Just had to send this thinking it is a small world and we have sure
come a long way from 7 course.

Anyway for what it was worth
Regards
Tiny

Found these photos during Xmas cleanup.

We used to go up to the Long Hai Special Forces camp for a yippee shoot and a few beers. These were taken in the new boozer. The old boozer was blown to bits by Charlie mortars not long after we left on a previous day. We must have upset him because he lobbed half a dozen shells and the only building he hit was the boozer.

Names are:- Bob Kinnane, China Mahony, John Ranzic, Peter Harold and Jerry Fliss.

I'm trying a new system so I hope you get these.

Regards Bob Kinnane

G'day Pom,

My name is Wayne CLARK and am a former ADG, course 1/85 and left in 1993.  I dont keep in any contact with any other adgies apart from Grant COLHOUN occasionally.  Not that i dont like other adgies it just feels that when I left the mustering I sort of moved on to another life.

I do read the Blue Beret though and have been keeping up with the gossip in relation to Paul HAM and his book, I was given it for xmas and I reckon it's a good read.

I like all adgies that joined up after the Vietnam War have heard plenty of war stories from the men that were there, mainly on Anzac days.

I had the absolute pleasure and honour to work with WOFF John HANSEN for 7 of my 8 years in the mustering and had no idea what he did on Anzac day in Saigon.  This story is covered in the book.

I reckon that instead of whingeing about a bloke, HAM, who has attempted to tell a story someone actually does a book just about us. No whinging then.

I'm sure that if there is an ex adgie, or friend/partner, that could author this adgie history I'm sure that there would be enough financial assistance from other ex adgies for this to happen.

Just a thought.

Wayne Clark

Pom,

Just going through the old Vietnam Members etc. Acouple of annomilies you may wish to amend;
Peter Sheriff = 1OSU 4.6.70 - 31.8.70 then to 9SQN 1.10.70 - 8.01.70 (there is a one month not accounted for in that period)

Greg Harrop = 1OSU 4.6.70 - 3.6.71 (according to official records there is no mention of him serving in 9SQN as a door gunner, could we get some one to verify this and get the official records changed)

Glen Tillack = 1OSU 4.6.70 - 1.12.70 then to 9SQN 01.12.70 - 31.5.71 then to 1OSU 31.5.71 - 03.6.71

Mate, hope that helps.

Regards

Tex and Geoff Phillips.

Just a footnote, Geoff Phillips is the last remaining ADG who was posted to Vung Tau on the 04. 06. 1970.

Members posted with him were; Glen Tillack, Peter Sheriff and Greg Harrop.
