Patto Don't think I've ever had the pleasure ... but on behalf of the Association's: old, bold, toothless and ruthless, I ask you write an article on the late Adam Dunning for Henry Cichowski's and Bob Cornwell's respective newsletters - please. As I for one, would like to know where he'd been, what he'd done, what sort of bloke he was and the ADGies role in his send-off at the ANZAC Chapel Duntroon. For all we got on his Service career were some television pictures of him in best blues and (what looked like), East Timor. Please see what you can do. Regards Alan Giltrap (Gilli) Alan, As I recall, you were at Edinburgh in the late eighties; I think I met you at Penfield when I was in the Air Training Corps, just prior to joining the RAAF. I’ve done some searching in the AFP and found a few ex-ADGies, including some close mates of Adam’s. I’ll get to work on a write-up. I was also thinking about doing one on the Solomons; I was over there 12 months ago, along with 3 other ex-ADGies now in the AFP. Turned out to be a bit of a reunion, as Bill Grasby was deployed with the RAAF contingent at the same time. Cheers, Patto |

I stay in touch with tex and Warren Dreise, Warren said him and Viv are coming out for a visit to the "Big BX" this coming spring. Both of us are planning a trip back to OZ in a year or two, I loved our last trip there. I am going to dig till I find the rest of the photo's should take a week or so. The attach I found in a book on armour. thats John Graham and one of out newbies on the gun. I am sure some of your boys will remember the vehicle. All the best, John Gorto |

Gav Spoke to Barry Edgar Stanley (Williamson), who has no recollection what so ever, about an Iroquois flight to or even marching in Sydney, let alone which Battalion, or year - it was ... The little fellow remembers you, sounds well and is in the midst extensions to his place over on Macleay Island off the Queensland coast. Do you remember that beautiful little footy field (vide attachment), over in the Vietnamese Police Academy grounds, where we used to go and watch the football matches on an afternoon off, complete with cans of Fosters and ice in those small ammo' boxes ? VUNG TAU AIR PHOTO 2 comes courtesy of a Geoff Tanner, the WOFF Caterer that replaced Pat Curtis at Vung Tau in early 1969, who loaned me his photo album, from which a number of pictures have been scanned and I shall eventually E-mail as attachments.. Can you spot the ADGies attending the Last Supper at Phan-Rang |
The last supper, our going away breakfast the last day we worked with your boys.
That is a cadaverous Bob Redway at the end of the table. The two men next to him
were your boys, the older one I think was a NCO. It was also a drunk to be remembered,3
garbage cans of beer were finished. |

Like a photo from an old western. Keeping the peace in Sin City |
Bob, Your right, Alan was a great guy lots of fun. The guy next to Alan was quite abit old that everyone else,Tex would know who he was. I do not for some reason Alan Wray does not strike a bell. I knew faces but not name on a lot of the guys. When it was time to wrap it up for the morning there were about 4 of us left 3 US one Aussie. He came back to our barracks on the back of out truck the "Duche & A half". On the way back we were pissing off the truck and trowing beer cans. Unfortunetly the base commander was driving behind us. He pulled us over when we stopped at the barracks. Some of the drunks were yelling for him to get stuffed. We made it home and just about finnished the last six pack, when it hit us. The Aussie could not get back home so I told him to sleep in the empty bed across the hall. Hours later I heard screaming, Rich Auletti had the bunk above and he was irate over the Digger's pissing the cot. It was a classic. He was a stocky buildt guy with blond hair cut short on the sides. One day I will get a photo and send it to you. The last photo is one of Jock "the Egg Man" Hagerty's, he sent me this copy years ago. Take care, John ----- Original Message ----- From: Bob Cornwell To: John Gorto Sent: Saturday, January 15, 2005 1:35 PM Subject: Re: Thanks John Yes Bob Redway next to him but at back of table Alan Atherton and maybe the one next to him with his back to us might be Alan Wray ?? Bet you enjoyed the Hangover. |
